John K. Mauler Sr., age 82, of Sychar Road, Mount Vernon, died on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born on July 29, 1927 in Mount Vernon, Ohio to the late Glenn and Icle (Clements) Mauler. John served in the United States Army and worked as an independent truck driver. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and Amvets Post #95 both of Mount Vernon.
He is survived by three sons; John (Cheryl) Mauler Jr. of Mount Vernon, Jonathan Mauler of Mount Vernon, Mark (Candy) Thomas of Mount Vernon; four daughters, Vicki (Tony) Watson of Suffolk, Virginia, Kathie (Terry) Fowler of Howard, Lisa (Fred) Gartin of Delaware, Amanda Mauler of Mount Vernon; step-children, John Kelly McMurtry of Mount Vernon, Bill (Connie) McMurtry of Mount Vernon and Debbie Everhart of Howard, many grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis “Phyd” Mauler of Mount Vernon, Lillian “Squirt” (Jim) Gray of Mount Vernon and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Sharon Vance, two brothers, Willard Mauler and Robert Mauler and a sister, Glenna McMahon.
Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 PM. Mr. Frank Hux will be officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery.
