John "Jack" W. Coe, age 86, of 8299 Granville Road, Mount Vernon, died Wednesday February 13, 2002 at his residence. Jack was born February 6, 1916 in Knox County to John C. and Sara (Larimore) Coe and had spent his lifetime in Knox County. Jack was a farmer all of his life and had also been employed by Hunter Brothers Contractors and Grubb and Pipes Contractors. Jack graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1935 and was a member of the Brandon United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Massey-Harris-Ferguson Club of Ohio, the Ohio Farm Bureau, Heart of Ohio Campers Club, National Rifle Association and the former Clinton Grange. Jack was an avid sportsman and loved the outdoor life.
Surviving are his wife Lois (Kohler) Coe whom he married August 14, 1942; his son Jay (Sondra) Coe of Mount Vernon, his daughter Janet (Harry) Noah of Maplewood, Ohio; 5 grandchildren Julie Coe (Bruce) Hilton of Mount Vernon, Mary Ellen Coe (Johnnie) Bailey of Martinsburg, Judy Noah (Matt) Krites of VanWert, Jeff Noah of Tipp City and Jenna Noah of Maplewood; a great granddaughter Morgan Bailey; and several nieces nephews, friends and neighbors. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Margaret Coe Lybarger and 2 brothers Frederick H. Coe and William A. Coe.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon where funeral services will be Saturday at 11 AM with Rev. Doug Sweet officiating. Burial will be in Hedding Cemetery in Morrow County.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Knox County, the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
