Gene F. Abdon, age 79 of Columbus died Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Villa Angela in Columbus.
He was born on December 30, 1928 in Greenup, Kentucky to the late Bert and Anna Mae (Wellman) Abdon. A graduate of Central High School, he served in the US Army. He had worked at the Ohio Packing Company and retired from BF Goodrich. Gene enjoyed bowling in his younger years, reading novels, playing cards, especially canasta and NASCAR racing. Taping old movies and shopping at WalMart were favorite past-times.
A wonderful provider with a warm sense of humor, he will be remembered for his generous ways and love of family.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Earlene (Barnhill), Children: Lonajean (Ken) Tate of Centerburg, Gary (Crystal) Abdon of Cardington, Debbie (Jeff) Scott of Galloway, Grandchildren: Malkia, Jermisha, Valerie, Tiffany, Jessica, Gary II, Amanda, 7 Great-grandchildren, and his WalMart family of friends.
Preceded in death by son-in-law: Chuck Casperson Jr.
Friends may call Sunday 6-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the 12:00 p.m. – Noon Monday services at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR’s 3 at 61, Sunbury. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
