Les Morgan, age 47, of Mount Gilead, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at his residence.

He was born in Marion, Ohio, on October 10, 1959, the son of the George and Mildred Campbell Morgan of Mount Gilead. Les graduated from Mount Gilead High School in the Class of 1978, where he was a force to be reckoned with on the football field.

On June 28, 1981, Les married his loving wife of 26 years, Jodi Hershner Morgan, at the Trinity United Methodist Church, his high school sweetheart from his senior year.

Always hard at work, Les began his working career by installing carpet when he was 16 years old. Soon thereafter, Les and his brother-in-law, owned and operated Morgan Dixon Carpet and had stores in five different locations. Currently Les was serving as the maintenance supervisor of Marion City Schools.

Les was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.

A permanent fixture at the bowling alley, Les bowled in many leagues and tournaments. He nearly shot a 300 on numerous occasions and would have if it wasn't for that 10 pin.

Les collected model trains and patches from his many long bikes rides for various events.

With a very sarcastic sense of humor, Les often teased his family and friends with his many catch phrases. Despite his many health ailments, he always maintained a positive outlook on life and even when he would be returning from the hospital he would tell everyone he was "never better."

He will be missed by his wife and parents, son: Nick Morgan of Columbus; daughter: Kate Morgan, at home; two sisters: Lisa (Greg) Pine of Marion, and Lynette (Kent) Fisher of Mount Gilead; and six nieces and nephews: Kelly and Julie Pine, Kyle, Konnor, Kolby, and Kolin Fisher.

Les was preceded in death by his best friend since the age of 5, Wes Williams.

His family will greet friends on Thursday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 South Main Street, Mount Gilead, where funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Ron Heasley officiating. Burial will follow in Rivercliff Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Ohio Diabetes Association, 1100 Dennison Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43201.
