MANSFIELD: Naomi J. Albers, 96, of Elyria and formerly of Mansfield, died Sunday evening May 13, 2007 in Wesleyan Village, Elyria, following a long illness.
She was born September 15, 1910 in Marion to Rollie and Minnie (Hipcher) Doyle, and was graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1928.
Naomi earned her B.A. from Bowling Green State University, and taught Latin and French languages at Green Springs High School. She later worked with the Mansfield City Schools, teaching at both Hedges and Stadium Elementary Schools for 20 years.
An active member of First United Methodist Church, Mansfield, she served the congregation on numerous committees.
She was a member of Richland County Retired Teachers Association and a former member of Ruth Chapter #17 Order of Eastern Star.
Naomi is survived by her stepson and his wife Henry H. and Jo-Ann Albers of Bowling Green, Kentucky; grandchildren Stephen George Albers and his wife Janice, and Henry William Albers and his wife Cynthia; four great grandchildren; her sister-in-law Betty Albers of Mansfield; and several nieces & nephews
Her husband Henry L. Albers preceded her in death on May 24, 1987.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 17, 2007 from Noon until 2 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will immediately follow at 2 pm. The Rev. Charles Tobias will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to First United Methodist Church or Wesleyan Senior Living Foundation may be made at the funeral home.
