Franklin Adkins, age 72 of Cardington, died Monday morning August 21, 2006 at the Morrow County Hospital Emergency Room.

He was born on April 18, 1934 in Lavalette, WV to the late Emmett Sr. and Ina (Phelps) Adkins. A resident of Marengo since 1942, he was a retired a coiler for Ranco in both Delaware and Plain City. Franklin attended the Victory Freewill Baptist Church.

He loved spending time with his large family and circle of friends, they include his loving wife of 47 years; Rose, they were married June 5, 1959 in Sunbury, Sons: Franklin Lean (Vicky), Anthony, and Darrell (Alice), he especially enjoyed his Grandchildren: Cody, Sara, Megan, and Anthony Jr., 14 Brothers & Sisters: Ruth Pukansky, Emmett Jr. (Bet), Betty Stephens, Gene (Janet), Dorothy Coleman, Enoch (Linda), Eloise (Chuck) Freeman all of Marengo, Ellet (Betty) of Cardington, Laura (Floyd) Mailey, Ernie (Kim) of Marengo, Mary (Jerry) Fouts of Delaware, Joney (Cindy) of Chesterville, Joyce (Dick) Wertz, and Jimmy (Sharon) of Marengo, Brother-in-law: Dick Addison of News Carlisle, and numerous nieces and nephews, Sister-in-laws: Martha (Bill) Phillips, Marie Wright, Brother-in-law: Stanley Bowsher.

He and his wife loved to travel, driving to Alaska 3 times. They wintered in Florida for the past 10 years. An avid antique collector, he could often be found visiting flea markets. When his sons were young he was involved with the Boy Scouts and Troop 47. Franklin enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, while his favorite springtime activity was mushroom hunting.

Preceded in death by Sister Hester Addison.

Friends may call Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury. Funeral Services will be held Thursday 11:00 a.m. at the Victory Freewill Baptist Church, 2784 SR 229 W. in Marengo, with Rev. Joe Graham and Pastor Brad Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Marengo Cemetery.
