LUCAS: William R. “Bill” Erdenberger, 87, of Lucas, died unexpectedly Friday, September 6, 2013 at home with his family around him.

He was born June 19, 1926 in Mansfield to parents Russell K. and Alfaretta (Martin) Erdenberger. Bill married Joan Scott on June 20, 1948. He was graduated from Madison High School in 1944 and was a United States Air Force Veteran as a Sergeant B-17 Aerial Gunner. Bill was a 1951 graduate of The Ohio State University in Columbus and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture.

He retired from Farm Bureau as the petroleum manager. Bill also retired as the Monroe Township Zoning Inspector. He spent time working on his family ancestry and taking care of Wilanna Farm. Bill loved and cared for his family and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

Bill was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Mansfield. He was a former member of the Lucas Lions Club and a school board member for Lucas Local Schools for 15 years.

Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joan S. Erdenberger; son Mark W. (Betty) Erdenberger of Bellville; daughters Bethany R. Bennett and Melissa A. (Ron) Tuttle of Lucas; grandchildren Erika R. (Mark) Malick, Devon J. Erdenberger, and Drew M. Tuttle; great grandchildren Brooke and Blake Malick; and a brother, Robert P. Erdenberger of Mansfield.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by brothers John “Jack” Erdenberger and Richard W. Erdenberger.

Calling hours with relatives and friends will be at Chestnut Grove Cemetery (east on Twp Road 1656 at the intersection of US Route 42 and State Route 603, near Ashland) from 1:30pm to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2013, where a memorial service will immediately follow at 2:30 with the Rev. Robert W. Stull officiating.
