LEXINGTON: To Bill Vassel, the love of family and admiration of friends was much more important than wealth and privilege. Family was not an important thing to Bill it was everything.
Bill passed away Monday evening, September 17, 2012 at home surrounded by his devoted family which he loved so much. Bill was 56.
Born June 3, 1956 the son of Thomas and Theodora (Naoun) Vassel, Bill graduated from Mansfield Senior High. He continued his education at North Central State College earning his business degree.
Bill worked for National Seating in Mansfield and Bosch located in Ashland. Before recently retiring, Bill also worked for Mansfield City Schools and the City of Mansfield.
Although Bill excelled at all sports, he loved playing golf. Any area course was fine with him. Bill just enjoyed walking the fairways and perfecting his game.
A family man, he understood that his true treasures were his family. He will be remembered for his generosity and sense of humor.
He is survived by his loving wife Teresa Vassel of Lexington, children Kristina Vassel of Clearwater, Florida, Nickole Glover of Trinity, Florida, Anthony and Brandon Vassel both of New Albany, Nicolas Vassel of Englewood, Colorado; father Thomas Vassel of Columbus; step-children Erin (Garrett) Bunnell of Butler and Jamie Artz of Ontario; grandchildren Jadon Clark, Wesley Bunnell, Alyssa Glover, and Wyatt Bunnell; brother Thomas Vassel, Jr. of Mansfield, sister Fanny Shutway of Broadview Heights, and brother James (Nicole) Vassel of Hilliard; numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his mother Theodora Vassel.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 21, 2012 from 4-7pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be offered Saturday at 10 a.m. in Resurrection Parish, 2600 Lexington Avenue, Lexington, Ohio. The Very Rev. Father Nelson Beaver will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to Hospice of North Central Ohio or Resurrection Parish may be made through the funeral home.
