JOHNSVILLE: Mary K. “Kathy” Goodyear, 49, of State Route 314, died Wednesday morning March 10, 2004 in her home following a long illness.
She was born November 1, 1954 in Pontiac, Michigan to Herman and Sylvia (Ramey) Sparks, was graduated from Big Walnut High School in 1972, and attended Columbus Business College.
A homemaker and avid quilter, Kathy moved to Johnsville 16 years ago from the Delaware area. Her interest in genealogy occupied her time and lead to volunteer library work.
She is survived by her husband Carl “Gene” Goodyear, whom she married February 20, 1981; two daughters and a son-in-law Jenny Rose Myers of Columbus and Kelly and Richard Russell of Warren, Arkansas; three grandchildren Sabrina Lynn Myers, Catlin Russell and Justin Russell; her mother Sylvia Sparks of Mount Vernon; two sisters and brothers-in-law Margie and Jack Lusby of Marengo and Bonnie and Paul Armstrong of Mount Vernon; a brother Charlie Sparks of Marengo; and nieces and nephews.
Her father preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 12, 2004 from 5-8 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 pm. The Rev. Marvin Haught will officiate. Burial will follow in Shauck Cemetery.
