Denzer-Farison-Hottinger and Snyder Funeral Home
In Marion, Ohio
The Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Homes is the oldest ongoing funeral establishment in Marion. This spacious brick funeral home was originally the home of the Marion Steam Shovel Company co-founder Henry Barnhart. The funeral home began as the Schaffner Funeral Home in 1866 and later became the Schaffner-Queen Funeral Home and then the Shaffner-Denzer Funeral Home when Harold Denzer, Sr. purchased it in 1927. The firm was honored to hold the historical funeral services of President Warren G. Harding in 1923.
Harold Denzer, Jr. followed his father in service to the Marion community with the Denzer family operating the firm until 1975 when Gene Farison and Jack Hottinger acquired the Denzer Funeral Home, continuing the Denzer's rich tradition of service.
In 2006, the firm merged with the Snyder Funeral Home family ensuring the Marion community that the ideals and standards Gene and Jack established would be maintained. Together they continue to honor lives well lived, as the Snyder family has with integrity and compassion for the past four generations.
