Make Yourself at Home
We are not the Snyder Funeral Society and certainly not the Snyder Funeral Parlors. We are Snyder Funeral Homes. Why do we use the word “Homes” instead of those other terms? Because we want you to feel right at home at Snyder’s. Let us serve you a cup of coffee just how you like it, with no cream and extra sugar. Feel free to drape your sweater over that chair or kick back on our couch. Our directors and staff are here to make you feel comfortable. After all, funerals were traditionally held in the family home, and we strive to replicate that warm environment in our accommodating facilities. We want to ensure that every detail of your experience meets or exceeds your expectations.
During calling hours, you and your guests will be warmly welcomed at the front door by one of our staff family who will help you settle in and answer any questions you may have. Every family has all the time they need to gather with friends and say goodbye to their loved one.
No Request is Too “Out There.” We Specialize in Unique!
Harold was a motorcycle man, so we had an all-motorcycle procession to the cemetery. Carrie loved butterflies, so we released a flight of butterflies to end her service. Jim was a trucker who took pride in his ride, so we used it to transport his casket to his final resting place. Sarah was an excellent baker, so we served slivers of her favorite dessert (brownies with fudge icing) to those who attended calling hours.
We’ve changed the names, but all of these stories are true—and we could fill this page with hundreds more. Your loved one was truly one-of-a-kind, so a cookie-cutter funeral simply won’t work. At Snyder Funeral Homes, we can arrange anything from balloon and dove releases to live bagpipes and harpists. If you have an original idea—even if it’s something we’ve never done before—we will work diligently to make it a reality.

We know that every family we serve is unique and strive to make each service a personal tribute to the life that has been lived. We provide a wide variety of choices that will help fulfill your wishes, from a traditional funeral to a personalized service that celebrates your loved one’s hobbies and interests.
The following are ideas that you may use to personalize a service:
Gather photos of your loved one and we will create a lasting tribute on DVD that can be viewed during visitation or a service. Additional Copies of the video tribute can be purchased for family and friends.
Every funeral presents an opportunity to share a life story. From simple, personalized touches to elaborate themed services, you have unlimited possibilities for creating a meaningful tribute. The casket too can be personalized using commemorative embroidered panels, embroidered overthrows or LifeSymbols® designs. These popular casket enhancements are also used as individual keepsakes for family and friends, and include themes of patriotism, gardening, sports, family relationships, and spirituality.
Our Funeral Home will provide your family with a bouquet of environmentally safe balloons in the color of your choice. As the balloons slowly drift gently upward it leaves us with a memory that lasts a lifetime. Our staff will coordinate the balloon release to take place at any time throughout the service. If you are interested in using this special memory maker, please let us know.
Personalized Printed Materials
Whether you wish to have photos included on memorial folders or a family prayer or quotation included on prayer cards the options and choices are yours to make. Many choices of register books, memorial folders, prayer cards and thank you notes are available to customize as you desire.
Memorabilia Display Tables
Any special photographs, personal memorabilia and other items will be beautifully displayed to reflect the true personality of your loved one. In the past, items such as golf clubs, baseball mitts, ballet shoes, art work and motorcycle helmets have been displayed.
Bag Piper Musician
Let the enchanting sound of the Highland bagpipes be a presence at your funeral service. You may request that the bagpiper escort the casket from the funeral coach to the gravesite or that he play off in the distance before and after services. Arrangements may also be made for the bagpiper to play at chapel, church or memorial services.
Personalized jewelry with your loved one’s fingerprint embossed on a piece of jewelry of your choosing. View Thumbies Fingerprint Keepsakes.
An on-line obituary is a great way to celebrate your loved one’s life. Family and friends can leave guestbook condolences, view photos, and more. The obituary is on-line so it will always be accessible. The obituary will contain all service and memorial information for easy organization and viewing.
“Would you like to honor a loved one in your family who was a Veteran? With Military Honors you can.”
Depending on the branch of service, options that may be available are that of: color guard, Taps, a gun salute or even pall bearers. We have contacts with all branches of the service to honor your loved one in the most appropriate way. In addition, we can apply for an American Flag and a Bronze Marker through the Veterans Administration as well as a Presidential Certificate honoring the life of your Veteran on behalf of a grateful nation.
When planning a funeral, one of the many decisions you will make is where your loved one’s final resting place will be. Depending on whether you choose a cemetery, your home, your garden or some other location, you will need to choose an appropriate protective container. Your funeral director will match your specific needs to all available options, which may include caskets, vaults or urns.
Caskets are made in a wide variety of styles and materials. They can be made from inexpensive materials, such as pine or a composite of hardboard, and cost very little. Or they can be expensive when made from the finest materials such as bronze or mahogany. Stainless steel and steel caskets are also popular options.
Most cemeteries require that caskets be placed in an outer burial receptacle capable of withstanding the weight and pressures of the earth above and surrounding the receptacle. Our Merchandise Selection Room provides samples of vaults and other outer burial containers for you to preview and make your selection of choice.
Container Options for Cremation include: Hardwood Caskets, for those desiring something more traditional; Cremation Caskets for those wanting a simple yet dignified casket constructed specifically for cremation; and Basic Cremation Containers.
Memorial Urns are permanent containers for the cremated body. We offer a wide range of styles and prices appropriate for burial, niches, scattering, keepsakes or discreet placement in your home. Your personal plans for the final placement of the urn can play an important part in your selection process. Some urns are ornately designed for display purposes while others are very basic in style. Many of the urns can also be personalized with engravings or laser designs.
Urn Vaults are protective containers in which urns are commonly placed. In many cases, where families desire to bury the urn-encapsulated remains of their loved one, cemeteries will require the use of an urn vault. Much like burial vaults for caskets, urn vaults protect the urn from being crushed, and protect the ground above them from caving in over time.
